Skating Under the Northern Lights

My daughter was a figure skater for about 8 years. I took her to the rink two or three times a week and spent many hours watching determined young girls practice jumps and spins.  Skaters exhibit grace and athleticism all at once. I wanted to illustrate a skater and created the girl first.  She needed a fabulous setting—not just a rink.  So I imagined her skating on a frozen lake under the Northern Lights.  Seeing the Northern Lights is on my bucket list. Don’t know that I will ever get to see them, but I drew them anyway.
