Illustration, Moonlight on Swan Lake

Moonlight on Swan Lake evokes the magical melancholy of Odette, a princess bound by a spell to become a swan, returning to human form only at night when the moon is high. I painted the scene in a limited palette of muted cool tones with simple, strong focus and emphasis on light to convey a dream-like state of starkness as well as beauty. The dancer and the swan remain strong, elegant, and hopeful despite tragic circumstances. Through the clouds of the night sky we see not only the moon, but also the twinkle of stars of different hues.

This is a personal project, but I also sell this ballet illustration for performance posters.  For information on usage on any of my images or for information on my services, please contact me.
